Hazards of driving during the holiday season

On Behalf of | Dec 9, 2022 | Personal Injury

We are now just weeks away from Christmas and it’s an exciting time of year. Families are getting together again after potentially extended absences.

Some people utilize planes, coaches and other forms of public transport, but driving is still by far the most popular way to get around. It’s important to have your wits about you when driving during the holiday season, and here’s why;

When drivers get too merry

The holidays are a time for parties and get-togethers. Often, such occasions are filled with an array of alcoholic beverages. You don’t drink and drive personally, but that doesn’t mean others can resist the temptation. Drunk driving is a huge issue over the holidays, and it ultimately poses a risk of injury to you.

Drivers in a hurry

As stated, the holidays are a time to catch up with family and friends. Sometimes, people pack a lot into their schedule and they have multiple people to visit per day in different locations. It can be difficult to squeeze all of these visits into one day, so road users tend to be in a hurry. This heightens the risk of impatience. An impatient driver is a dangerous driver and it’s important to look out for signs of frustration such as honking the horn, tailgating and erratic maneuvers.

Hopefully, your holiday season goes by without incident, but there is no harm in being on your toes. If you have been injured by someone else’s negligence then seeking legal guidance will give you an idea of whether or not you may be entitled to financial compensation.
